A large leaf-shaped worm that can grow up to 3cm in size, it mainly parasitizes the livers of herbivores such as cows and goats. It sometimes parasitizes humans, and in severe cases can cause cirrhosis of the liver. The intermediate host is the Limnopodium stagnalis, from which emerge larvae (cercariae) that attach to aquatic plants and develop into encysted larvae (metacercariae), which then infect animals via the mouth. Livestock are the most affected. Biotinol is used for treatment. → Related article: Monoaragai Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
