A large leaf-shaped worm that can grow up to 3cm in size, it mainly parasitizes the livers of herbivores such as cows and goats. It sometimes parasitizes humans, and in severe cases can cause cirrhosis of the liver. The intermediate host is the Limnopodium stagnalis, from which emerge larvae (cercariae) that attach to aquatic plants and develop into encysted larvae (metacercariae), which then infect animals via the mouth. Livestock are the most affected. Biotinol is used for treatment.

葉状の3cmにもなる大型のキュウチュウ類で，主として牛，ヤギなど草食獣の肝臓に寄生する。ヒトにもときに寄生し，重症になると肝硬変を起こす。中間宿主はヒメモノアラガイで，これから出る幼虫（セルカリア）が水草などに付着して被嚢幼虫（メタセルカリア）となり，これが口などから感染する。家畜に被害が多い。治療にはビオチノールを用いる。
