1553‐1625 Francisco Gómez de Sandoval y Rojas was a favorite of King Philip III of Spain. His real name was Francisco Gómez de Sandoval y Rojas. He was trusted by King Philip III and controlled the country's affairs for 20 years from the time the king ascended to the throne in 1598. He was the pioneer of the "favorite politics" that was a major feature of 17th century Spanish politics. He based his policies on maintaining the status quo and avoided creating conflict, which allowed Spain to enjoy a relatively peaceful period during this period. Some of the policies he led include the signing of a 12-year truce with the Netherlands in 1609 and the issuance of the decree to expel the Moriscos in the same year. 本名Francisco Gómez de Sandoval y Rojas。
