...In 653 (Hakuchi 4), Dosho went to China to study under Xuanzang, and after returning home he spread the sect at Gangoji Temple in Asuka. Chitsu and Chitatsu, who went to China in 658 (Saimei 4), also spread the sect after returning home. These people belonged to the same lineage, and when Gangoji Temple was founded in Ukyo, Heijo, the Hosso sect also moved there, and it was called the Gangoji tradition and the Nanden tradition. In 703 (Taiho 3), Chiho and Chio went to China, and in 717 (Yoro 1), Genbo, a disciple of Gien, also studied under Zhishu in Puyang and mastered Hosso, and spread it after returning home. ...

…653年(白雉4)道昭が入唐留学して玄奘に受学し，帰国後飛鳥元興（がんごう）寺でこれを広め，658年(斉明4)に入唐した智通や智達も帰国後に当宗を広めた。これらは同系統に属し，平城右京に元興寺が創建されるに及んで法相宗も移り，元興寺伝，南伝といわれた。703年(大宝3)に智鳳，智雄らが入唐し，また717年(養老1)に入唐した義淵の弟子玄昉（げんぼう）も，ともに濮陽の智周に師事して法相を修め，帰国後これを広めた。…
