A city in central Aichi Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1970. During the Edo period, it was written as Ikoi-funa and flourished as a post town on the Tokaido road. It is located at the intersection of the Meitetsu Main Line and the Mikawa Line, and industries such as transportation equipment and metal products are thriving, but due to the small area of ​​the city, there are few large factories. Housing complexes were developed in the 1960s, and urbanization is progressing. Chiryu Shrine is the second shrine in Mikawa, and is also called Ikoi-funa Daimyojin. 16.31 km2 . Population 68,398 (2010).
