A city in central Aichi Prefecture. It was incorporated as a city in 1970. During the Edo period, it was written as Ikoi-funa and flourished as a post town on the Tokaido road. It is located at the intersection of the Meitetsu Main Line and the Mikawa Line, and industries such as transportation equipment and metal products are thriving, but due to the small area of the city, there are few large factories. Housing complexes were developed in the 1960s, and urbanization is progressing. Chiryu Shrine is the second shrine in Mikawa, and is also called Ikoi-funa Daimyojin. 16.31 km2 . 愛知県中部の市。1970年市制。江戸時代は池鯉鮒と書き東海道宿場町として栄えた。名鉄の本線と三河線の交点にあり,輸送用機器,金属製品などの工業が盛んであるが,市域面積が狭いため大規模工場は少ない。1960年代に住宅団地が造成され,都市化が進んでいる。知立神社は三河二宮で,池鯉鮒大明神とも呼ばれる。16.31km2。6万8398人(2010)。
