They are primarily classified according to the location of the openings that let in daylight (Figure 1).
[Side light]
The most common method of letting in light from the sides using vertical side windows installed in the exterior wall is called side lighting, or side window lighting. Side lighting can be further divided into one-side lighting, two-side lighting, two-sided lighting, three-sided lighting, and four-sided lighting based on the number and arrangement of side windows.
