〘Noun〙 A school of haiku that traces its origins to Matsuo Basho's friend Yamaguchi Sodo. It is so named because Sodo lived in Katsushika. It was centered around those who inherited Sodo's alias, Kijitsuan , and the third, Mizoguchi Somaru, first called himself Katsushika Shomon in the spring of 1784 ( Tenmei 4 ). Their haiku style is flat and lacks haiku meaning, and they are noted for their academic activities such as annotations and haiku theory. Katsushika Shomon. Katsushika Seifu.
