...At the top of the valley, a cirque is formed that resembles ice cream scooped with a spoon. A cirque topography consists of a relatively flat valley bottom (the cirque bottom) surrounded by steep cliffs (the cirque walls). A glacial lake may form at the bottom of the cirque.
