Cartier Latin - Cartier Latin
A district in the 5th and 6th arrondissements on the left bank of the Seine in central Paris. It is located south of the Île de la Cité and is famous as a center of learning and as a student district since the 12th century, with the Sorbonne and other educational institutions. The name comes from the fact that Latin was synonymous with learning in the Middle Ages.
