...The family originated from Ariyoshi, the second son of Monjo Hakase Sadayoshi, a descendant of Sugawara no Michizane, and his grandson Arimasa, the 8th generation, who took the name Karahashi. The family is of half-rank. In 1496 (Meiō 5), the former Kanpaku (chief adviser) Kujō Masamoto and his son Gon Dainagon Naotsugu murdered the Ōnaiki Karahashi Arikazu, but in 1498, Arikazu's son Ariname inherited the remains, and the family name was spared from extinction. However, it seems that the family name was once interrupted between Ariname and the next Arimichi. For generations, the family occupation was Kidendō, and the family stipend in the Edo period was over 182 koku. At the end of the Edo period, Arimitsu was active in politics, taking part in the 88 noble retsusen, and when Sukenomiya (Emperor Meiji) was proclaimed prince in 1860 (Man'en 1), he was given the name (Mutsunori), and his heir Aritsuna was granted the title of viscount in 1884 (Meiji 17) with the establishment of the Peerage Law. ...

…菅原道真の後裔文章博士定義の次子在良より出，その8世の孫在雅が唐橋を称したのにはじまる。家格は半家。1496年(明応5)前関白九条政基，権大納言尚経の父子によって，大内記唐橋在数が殺害されるという事件が起こったが，98年在数の息在名が遺跡を相続して家名断絶をまぬがれた。しかし，この在名と次の在通との間でも，いったん家名が中断したらしい。代々紀伝道を家職とし，江戸時代の家禄は182石余である。幕末の在光は88卿列参に加わるなど政治的に働き，また1860年(万延1)祐宮(明治天皇)の親王宣下に当たり，名(睦仁)を勘進し，嗣子在綱は1884年(明治17)華族令の制定により子爵を授けられた。…
