Japanese: 朝来[町] - あさご

A former town in Asago County, central Hyogo Prefecture. Occupying the mountainous region in the upper reaches of the Maruyama River, the town produces green onions, soybeans, tea, and other crops. It also produces pulp and building materials, and engages in textile and metal manufacturing. It is home to the Tataragi Power Station, making it a power base town. The Bantan Line runs through the town. In April 2005, it merged with the towns of Ikuno, Wadayama, and San'in in Asago County to become a city, forming Asago City. Area: 130.20 ^km2 . Population: 7,289 (2003).

兵庫県中部，朝来郡の旧町。円山(まるやま)川上流域の山地を占め，ネギ，大豆，茶などを産する。パルプ用材，建築材も産し，繊維，金属などの工業も行う。多々良木(たたらぎ)発電所があり，電源基地の町となっている。播但(ばんたん)線が通じる。2005年４月朝来郡生野町，和田山町，山東町と合併し市制，朝来市となる。130.20km²。7289人（2003）。
