Cargo Distribution Bureau

...An administrative agency with overall jurisdiction over land, sea, and air transport administration. It is responsible for ensuring the provision of safe, fast, accurate, and inexpensive transport services in response to the transport demands of passengers and freight, while also having an extremely wide range of jurisdiction, including meteorological administration, tourism administration, seafarer labor administration, and shipbuilding administration. Its predecessor was the Ministry of Transport and Communications, which was established in 1943 by integrating the former Ministry of Communications (established in 1885) and the former Ministry of Railways (established in 1920). The current structure of the Ministry of Transport was basically established when the Japanese National Railways was publicly incorporated on June 1, 1949 (later divided and privatized in 1987).
