Kamiya Kazue

...He was a wealthy merchant in Hakata from the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the early Edo Shogunate, and was also famous as a tea master. His childhood name was Zenshiro, and his pen name was Sadakiyo. The Kamiya family had been major wealthy merchants in Hakata for generations since the mid-Muromachi period, and the second head of the family, Kazukei, served as captain of a ship sent to Ming China in 1539 (Tenbun 8), and he and his family were frequently involved in trade with ships sent to Ming China. In addition, the Kamiya family had long sought copper from the Sagi Copper Mine in Izumo for trade purposes, but the third head, Jusada, imported silver smelting technology using lead as a medium, and in 1533, with the cooperation of other Hakata silversmiths, they succeeded in managing the Iwami Silver Mine (Ginzan Kyuki). ...

…織豊政権より江戸幕府初期に至る博多の豪商で，茶人としても有名。幼名善四郎，字は貞清。神屋家は室町中期より代々博多の主だった豪商で，2代目主計は1539年(天文8)に遣明船の総船頭をつとめるなど，一族とともにたびたび遣明船貿易に従事した。また貿易の関係で従来から神屋家は出雲の鷺銅山の銅を求めていたが，3代目寿貞によって鉛を媒剤とする銀の製錬技術を輸入し，1533年他の博多の吹工の協力を得て石見銀山の経営に成功した(《銀山旧記》)。…
