A famous mountain at the southern end of the Qionglai Mountain Range in the Kunlun Mountain Range, about 40 km west of Leshan City in central Sichuan Province, China. Of the three peaks, Wanfoding (3,099 meters) is the highest. A temple was built here in the 2nd century, and Taoism was the main religion until the Tang Dynasty, but it later became Buddhist, and in the 16th century it was considered a Buddhist holy place. Today, there are temples of various styles, but the Wannian Temple, built in the 4th century, is an important cultural property of the province. In addition, the statue of Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, which is 9.1 meters tall and weighs about 6.2 tons and is said to have been made at the end of the 17th century, is an important cultural property of China. After liberation, accommodation facilities were built, and this mountain, which has many scenic spots, is visited by many people every year. The four great wonders of this mountain are sunrise, sea of clouds, treasure light (Brocken phenomenon), and divine light (light from phosphate ore). This mountain was registered as a mixed World Heritage Site (a heritage site with both cultural and natural value) in 1996 together with the Leshan Giant Buddha in Leshan City (World Mixed Heritage Site).
