Hirofumi Kaneko - Kaneko Yobun
Born: April 8, 1894 in Akita
[Died] March 21, 1985. Tokyo Novelist and playwright. Real name Kichitaro. Graduated from Akita Prefectural Technical School in 1913. In 1917, he became a student of Mushanokoji Saneatsu. He became interested in socialist ideas, and in February 1921, he published the coterie magazine "The Sower." In March 1923, he published his novel "Hell" in the magazine "Kaiho," which gained recognition in the literary world. He was active thereafter as a pioneer of early proletarian literature, which offered a fresh style of expression. In 1924, he founded the magazine "Bungei Sensen." In 1927, he left the Japan Proletarian Literary Federation and formed the Labor-Farmer Artists Federation. After the proletarian literature movement was dissolved, he wrote popular screenplays for performances, and after World War II, he became a member of the House of Councillors for the Socialist Party. He has written many books, including the collections of novels "Hell" (1923), "The Red Lake" (30), and "The Good Lord in the Attic" (30), as well as the collections of plays "The Laundryman and the Poet" (27) and "The Flying Song" (29).

小説家,劇作家。本名吉太郎。 1913年秋田県立工業学校卒業。 17年武者小路実篤の書生となった。社会主義思想に関心をもち,21年2月,同人誌『種蒔く人』を発刊。 23年3月,小説『地獄』を雑誌『解放』に発表して文壇に認められた。以後,表現形式の新鮮な初期プロレタリア文学のにない手として活躍。 24年雑誌『文芸戦線』創刊。 27年日本プロレタリア文芸連盟を脱退して労農芸術家連盟を結成。プロレタリア文学運動解体後は大衆的な上演用脚本を書き,第2次世界大戦後は社会党の参議院議員にもなった。小説集『地獄』 (1923) ,『赤い湖』 (30) ,『天井裏の善公』 (30) ,戯曲集『洗濯屋と詩人』 (27) ,『飛ぶ唄』 (29) その他,多くの著書がある。
