Born on February 26, 1932. After working as a professor at Okayama University, he became a professor at Shizuoka University in 1990. He later became a professor at Seigakuin University. He specialized in anthropology and the history of Christian thought, and in 1976 he received the Academy Prize for "Luther's Anthropology." He is from Shizuoka Prefecture and graduated from Kyoto University. His works include "Introduction to the History of Christian Thought" and "Max Scheler's Anthropology."
