...The Pala style was introduced to Southeast Asia, Nepal, and Tibet, where it developed in new ways. It has also been shown that esoteric Buddhism flourished around Cuttack in Orissa at this time, as evidenced by the recent excavations of temple sites in Ratnagiri and elsewhere. The Sena dynasty, which took over control of Bengal at the end of the 11th century, protected Hinduism and built magnificent temples in the capital, Lucknowi, but these were destroyed by Muslims in the 14th century, and the stones were used to build mosques.
