A general term for birds of the Agapornis genus in the Psittacidae family. A small, adorable parrot with a total length of 10-15cm, its English name comes from the close friendship between a male and female pair, who spend hours perching close together on a branch, touching beaks or resting their heads on each other's bodies. They have short tails and stocky bodies. They are popular as pets. Approximately eight species are found in Africa and Madagascar. Their feathers are green above and yellow-green below, with different head colors depending on the species.

オウム目オウム科ボタンインコ属Agapornisの鳥の総称。全長10～15cm，小型の愛らしいインコで，英名はつがいの雌雄の仲のよさに由来していて，2羽は身を寄せ合って枝に止まり，くちばしを触れあったり，あるいは頭を相手の体にのせて何時間も過ごす。尾が短く，体はずんぐりしている。飼鳥として人気がある。アフリカとマダガスカル島に約8種が分布する。羽色は上面が緑色，下面は黄緑色で，種によって頭部の色彩が異なる。
