Katabi Mine

...Population: 201,831 (1993). During the colonial period, it prospered due to its silver mines, then declined, but it is blessed with mineral resources such as tin and other non-ferrous metals, including the Catavi mine, and with this as the background of Bolivia's largest mining region, it was revived as a commercial city in the early 20th century. During Carnival, the La Diablada ceremony is held, in which masked and disguised people act out the conquest of the Incas and their conversion to Christianity.
