...Fully grown, they are about 9mm long. They begin pupating in September and emerge as new adults between September and November, attacking rice grains in the later stages of ripening, causing "snatched rice." There is one generation per year, and while adults usually overwinter, slow-growing individuals overwinter as larvae.
