Japanese: 川内[町] - かわうち

A former town in Onsen-gun, central Ehime Prefecture. Most of the area is mountainous, with lowlands in the upper reaches of the Shigenobu River. The town produces rice, wheat, vegetables, and flowers, and also raises livestock. National Route 11 runs through the town, and it is connected to Matsuyama City by bus. It is home to Shirainotaki Falls. In September 2004, it merged with Shigenobu-cho, Onsen-gun, to become a city, Toon City. Area: 110.86 ^km2 . Population: 11,335 (2003).

Kawauchi [town]

A former town in the west of Shimokita Peninsula, Shimokita District, Aomori Prefecture. Facing Mutsu Bay to the south, it is mostly mountainous and has little arable land, so hiba lumber is a popular production area. Scallops are also cultivated. There is a bus service from Mutsu City. In March 2005, it was incorporated into Mutsu City together with Ohata Town and Wakinosawa Village in Shimokita District. 323.65 ^km2 . 5,753 people (2003).
