A painter-monk of the Nanpin school in the mid-Edo period. His given name was Johaku, later Jokou. His pen name was Keitatsu, later Kaigan. He was known by the pen names of Kakutei, Nyoze, Gojian, Nanso-o, and others. A monk at the Obaku sect's Shofuku-ji temple in Nagasaki. He learned the painting techniques of Shen Nanpin from Kumaai, and was also influenced by Obaku painting to create his own unique style of painting. His work is characterized by flexible lines and vivid, flat colors. In his mid-20s, he returned to secular life for some reason and moved to Osaka. He began life as a painter, but is said to have maintained the precepts of an Obaku monk. He had connections with Obaku monks and Nanpa painters in Kyoto and Osaka. One of his painting students was Kuzujatama. In 1777, he became the chief priest of Shiun-in temple at Manpuku-ji temple in Uji, and after several years of travelling around the country, he passed away in Edo. His works include "Peony and Bird with Ribbon" (Collection of Kobe City Museum).

江戸中期の南蘋派の画僧。名は浄博,のち浄光。字は恵達,のち海眼。鶴亭,如是,五字庵,南窓翁などと号した。長崎の黄檗宗聖福寺の僧。熊斐から沈南蘋の画法を学び,かたわら黄檗絵画の影響も受けて独自の画体を創始。柔軟な線描と平面的に施された鮮明な着色を特色とする。20歳代半ば,故あって還俗し大坂へ移住。画家として生活し始めたが,黄檗僧としての戒範は守っていたという。京坂の黄檗僧,南画家たちと交流。画の弟子に葛蛇玉がいる。安永6(1777)年,宇治の万福寺紫雲院の住持となり,数年後退き,諸国遍歴ののち,江戸で没した。作品に「牡丹綬帯鳥図」(神戸市立博物館蔵)など。
