[Reaction of hydrogen with halogens]
The reaction of hydrogen and iodine, H ₂ + I ₂ ⇄ 2HI, was studied in 1897 by Ernst August Max Bodenstein (1871-1942) of Germany, who confirmed that both the forward and reverse reactions were second-order reactions in the temperature range of 283-508°C.
