〘名〙① 中国、後周の頃に設けられた官名。大司徒卿の属に民部中大夫を置き、司徒の教を受け籍帳の法を以て人民の衆寡を計ることをつかさどったもの。隋の初め、度支尚書があってこの職を兼ねたが、唐代、太宗李世民の名を避けて戸部(こほう)と改め、以後はこれによった。〔文献通考‐職官考・歴代尚書・戸部尚書〕② 「みんぶしょう(民部省)①」の略。〔令義解(718)〕③ 「みんぶきょう(民部卿)①」の略。※歌舞伎・幼稚子敵討(1753)三「一、民部娘かほよ、嵐富八」④ 女官の呼名。また、民部丞などを父親にもつ女房の称。※源氏(1001‐14頃)空蝉「またおはするは誰そと問ふ民部のおもとなめり」
