Kailash [Mount] - Kailash

Japanese: カイラス[山] - かいらす
Kailash [Mount] - Kailash

…It is a legendary mountain in ancient India, and is said to correspond to Mount Kailash (Tibetan name: Kangrinboche, transliterated into Chinese as Gangrenboqifeng), located in the western part of the Kailash Range in southwestern Tibet. It has been revered since ancient times as a holy place in Hinduism and Lamaism.

From Kailash [Mountain Range]

The mountain is the watershed between the rivers of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and the Indus River, which flows into the Indian Ocean. The western part of the mountain is called Mount Gangdise, or Mount Kailash, and is the object of worship for Lamaists and Hindus. Kailasa [Mountain] [Shoichi Komai].

From the Tibet Autonomous Region

At the southern end of this region, the main peak of the Kailash (Gangdise) Range, Mount Kailash (Kangrinboche), has been considered a sacred place for Hindus and Buddhists. However, this region has the lowest precipitation in the Tibet Autonomous Region, with less than 100 mm of precipitation per year, and is dry and often affected by wind and sand.

From the Himalayas

...The Himalayas, also known as the "King of Mountains" (Giriraj, Girish), are closely related to Indian mythology, legends, and literature, and gods and sages have some kind of connection with this mountain. Ancient Indians did not compete in climbing heights or engage in mountain exploration like modern people do, so they did not refer to any particular mountain by the vague term "snowy mountain." However, Mount Kailas, the northwesternmost mountain range, became the center of faith as the sacred Mount Kailasa, where Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati live, and pilgrims continue to visit it today. Himavat married the heavenly maiden Meena and gave birth to daughters Ganga (goddess of the Ganges River) and Parvati (daughter of the mountain). ...
