A role in which a kyogen actor appears as one of the characters in a Noh play. It is also called an inter-kyogen. There are roles that appear between the first and second acts (katariai), those that are directly related to the progress of the play (ashiraiai), and those in which an independent skit is inserted (kaeaai). 狂言方が，能の中の登場人物の一員として出る役。間狂言とも。前場・後場のつなぎに出るもの（語間(かたりあい)）と，戯曲的進行に直接関係するもの（会釈間(あしらいあい)），独立した寸劇が挿入されるもの（替間(かえあい)）とがある。里人，従者，寺男，船頭，官人，末社の神などの役が多い。→狂言
