A role in which a kyogen actor appears as one of the characters in a Noh play. It is also called an inter-kyogen. There are roles that appear between the first and second acts (katariai), those that are directly related to the progress of the play (ashiraiai), and those in which an independent skit is inserted (kaeaai). The most common roles are villagers, attendants, temple attendants, boatmen, government officials, and gods of subordinate shrines. → Kyogen Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
