A figure created in three-dimensional space by rotating a curve around an axis. When the interior is included, it is called a body of revolution. A sphere is created by rotating a circle (or semicircle) around a straight line, and a cone is created by rotating one of the intersecting straight lines around an axis. In the case of two straight lines that are not on the same plane, rotating one around the other results in a clockwise hyperboloid of revolution.
