A tayu of Gidayu-bushi. (1) The first was Toyotake Chikuzen Shojo's former name. (2) The second (1726-96, Kyoho 11-Kansei 8) was a pupil of the first, commonly known as Zeniya Sakichi. After working as Toyotake Yaetayu and Tokitayu, he assumed the name of Zeniya Sakichi in 1757 (Horeki 7). His style is said to still be present in his works Pawnshop, Gōkō, and Obiya. 義太夫節の太夫。(1)初世 豊竹筑前少掾の前名。(2)2世(1726‐96∥享保11‐寛政8) 初世の門人で,通称銭屋佐吉。豊竹八重太夫,時太夫を経て,1757年(宝暦7)2世を襲名。《質店》《合邦》《帯屋》にその風が残っているという。また《浄瑠璃節章揖》(1777)ほかの伝書も著している。なお此太夫の名跡は5世まで続いた。【井野辺 潔】
