Haeju - Kaishu

Japanese:
Haeju - Kaishu

A town in the Yanhu District of Yuncheng City, southwest of Shanxi Province, China. Population 47,000 (2011). Xie County was once located here, and it was the administrative center of Xiezhou from the Five Dynasties to the Qing Dynasty. In 1958, Anyi County and Xie County merged to form Yuncheng County, which was elevated to Yuncheng City in 1983. Historically, Xiezhou is known for the rock salt extracted from the Xie Pond, called Xiezhou Salt, and its extraction began in the Yin and Zhou dynasties. Until salt production in the coastal areas became popular, Xiezhou was the number one producer in the country, and possession of this region had great economic and political significance. Guan Yu, famous in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, was born here, and there is a ancestral temple of Guandi. Of the Guandi Temples scattered throughout China, the one here is the largest.
