...The thermal sensation felt by the human body is affected not only by temperature and humidity, but also by sunlight and air currents (wind), so using a discomfort index to express thermal sensations is problematic from the perspective of environmental hygiene. For example, in a chart of effective temperature, which is created using the coordinates of temperature, wet-bulb temperature, and wind speed, the range of 17.2 to 21.8°C is called the comfort zone, which is the thermal range that many people find comfortable, but this only coincides with the discomfort index when there is no wind. However, it is a convenient index for expressing bodily sensations indoors, and is often used in the field of meteorology.
