…Not only is it the top oil major in terms of crude oil production and processing, petroleum product and natural gas sales, sales revenue and profits, but it is also the world's largest operating company and one of the typical multinational corporations operating in the oil business in more than 100 countries. Exxon is the name of Standard Oil Co. (New Jersey) which was changed in 1971, but other companies such as California Standard (Standard Oil of California), Indiana Standard, and Ohio Standard were also part of the Standard Oil Group. The origin of these companies is an oil refinery started by JD Rockefeller, founder of the Rockefeller conglomerate, in Cleveland, Ohio in 1862, but in 1870 he merged several companies in the same business to establish Standard Oil Co. (Ohio) with capital of 1 million dollars. …
