Ono no Otsuu

...A woman who is said to have written "Joruri Monogatari (Twelve Stages)," the origin of Joruri. She is also written as Atsushi or Otsushi. As Joruri became more popular in the early modern period, various theories about the origin of Joruri were born, and a theory was created that the author was a real talented woman who was close to the powerful people of the time. Otsushi was a maid to Oda Nobunaga or Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Midai no Mandokoro (also known as Yodo-dono), and was highly renowned for her talent.
