Oshikiuchi - Within the ceremony

Japanese: 御式内 - おしきうち
Oshikiuchi - Within the ceremony

[history]
According to oral tradition and written records, Daito-ryu was founded by Shinrasaburo Yoshimitsu of the Minamoto clan, and was a small armor handed down to the Takeda clan of Kai. When it was passed down to the Takeda clan of Aizu by Takeda Kunitsugu, a member of the clan, in 1574 (Tensho 2), local martial arts were incorporated into it and the Oshikiuchi martial arts for self-defense in the palace were established. It is said that successive feudal lords passed it down and had their chief retainers, senior vassals, pages and other inner-office staff learn it. Takeda Sokaku studied and mastered sumo, bōjutsu, Ono-ha Ittō-ryū, Hōzōin-ryū spearmanship and shurikenjutsu at a young age, while also being initiated into the Oshikiuchi by former Aizu clan chief retainer Hoshina Chikanori (Saigo Tanomo). From 1898 onwards, he called this Daito-ryu jujutsu and traveled around the country to teach it and to popularize it.
