Nagahide Ogasawara

Japanese: 小笠原長秀 - おがさわらながひで

1366－1424 A military commander of the Muromachi period.
Born on September 18, 5th year of the Jouji era (Shohei 21). Second son of Ogasawara Nagamoto. In 6th year of the Oei era, he became the shugo of Shinano (Nagano prefecture) and in 7th year, he entered Shinano, but was defeated at Oto (Nagano city) by a local uprising led by Murakami Mitsunobu. He fled back to Kyoto and was dismissed from his post as shugo in 8th year. He died on March 15th, 31st year of the Oei era. He was 59 years old. His childhood name was Toyowakamaru. He was commonly known as Matajiro. His work includes "The Origin of Dog Hunting".

貞治(じょうじ)5=正平(しょうへい)21年9月18日生まれ。小笠原長基の次男。応永6年信濃(しなの)(長野県)守護となり,7年信濃にはいるが,村上満信らの国人一揆(いっき)にあい,大塔(長野市)で大敗。京都に逃げかえり,8年守護職を解任された。応永31年3月15日死去。59歳。幼名は豊若丸。通称は又次郎。著作に「犬追物起源」。
