Sanshin songs from before the early modern period are called "Mukashi-bushi" or "O-mukashi-bushi," and the former include "Kyōsaku-bushi," "Shuri-bushi," and "Shoton-bushi," while the latter include "Chaya-bushi," "Naka-bushi," and "Jūnana-hachi-bushi."
