A perennial plant of the lily family (APG classification: Myrmecaceae). The stem is 20-30 cm tall and bears three broadly egg-shaped, diamond-shaped, acutely pointed leaves. It produces one large, conspicuous flower with white tepals that grows slightly sideways at the end of the stalk. It grows on the forest floor of bright broadleaf forests where maples, oaks, etc. grow in the Kuril Islands, Sakhalin, Kamchatka Peninsula, Hokkaido, and northern Honshu (Aomori, Iwate, Miyagi prefectures).
