Otori-zukuri

One style of shrine main hall. As seen in the main hall of Otori Shrine in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, it has a gabled roof and gabled entrance, and its appearance is similar to that of Taisha-style shrines, but it differs in that the front door is in the center. The veranda is only attached to the front. The interior has no central pillar, and is divided into two rooms, a front and a back, like Sumiyoshi-style shrines, with the altar placed in the back room. The current main hall of Otori Shrine was rebuilt in 1909 (Meiji 42), but previously there was no veranda on the front, and a staircase was built directly to the door.

神社本殿の形式の一つ。大阪府堺(さかい)市の大鳥神社本殿にみられるように、切妻(きりづま)造、妻入(つまいり)で、外観は大社(たいしゃ)造に似るが、正面扉口が中央にある点が異なる。縁も前面につくだけである。内部は心柱(しんばしら)がなく、住吉(すみよし)造のように前後2室に分かれ、後室に神座が置かれる。現在の大鳥神社本殿は1909年（明治42）の再建だが、以前は正面に縁がなく、扉口に直接に階段が設けられていた。
