...It enshrines Hondawake no Mikoto (Emperor Ojin), Hime no Okami, and Ootashihime no Mikoto (Empress Jingu). In the Engishiki Shinmeicho, it is listed as Hachiman Daibosatsu Usa Shrine, Hime Shrine, and Ootashihimebyo Shrine (all of which are famous shrines), and it has been the Ichinomiya of Buzen Province since the Heian period. It is believed that there was a Usa (Hime) deity worshiped by Usatsuhiko and Usatsuhime, whose names are recorded in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, but the Fuso Ryakki and Hachiman Usa Shrine Oracle Collection, etc., state that in the 32nd year of the reign of Emperor Kinmei, Ogami Higi enshrined Emperor Honda Hirohata Hachimanmaro following an oracle. ...
