〘Noun〙 One of the ten schools of Shinshu. Kyonyo, the 12th head of Honganji, was forced into retirement by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, but in 1602 , Tokugawa Ieyasu bestowed a temple in Higashi-Rokujo, Kyoto, which was named Higashi Honganji as it was to the east of the original Honganji. Later, Takunyo was given land in Higashi-Otani by Shogun Ietsuna, and built a mausoleum for Shinran, but in June 1881 , the temple was renamed Otaniha.
