A town in Kato District, Hokkaido. The northern part is part of Daisetsuzan National Park, and occupies the upper reaches of the Otofuke River, which originates from Mt. Ishikari. The southeastern part is the Tokachi Plain, which produces beans, potatoes, and sugar beets. The town also has a lumber industry. Lake Nukabira is located here. Area: 694.23 km2 .
