...Written by Mayama Seika. "Oishi's Last Day" premiered at the Tokyo Kabukiza in February 1934 by Ichikawa Sadanji II. It was well received, and the Sadanji troupe performed "The Blade at Edo Castle" and "The Second Messenger" together in January of the following year as the first part of a series, and continued to perform the plays until "Mihama Palace" in January 1940. *Some of the terminology used in "Oishi's Last Day" is listed below.
