A former town in Hiraka County in the central-southern part of Akita Prefecture. It is located in the southwestern part of the Yokote Basin, and the western part of the town is in the Dewa Mountains. In addition to rice and livestock farming, the town also produces melons, tomatoes, apples, and other crops. The town's center is Numadate. In October 2005, the towns of Jumonji, Omori, Hiraka, Masuda, Yamauchi, and Taiyuu in Hiraka County were incorporated into Yokote City. 73.60 km2 . Population: 11,402 (2003).
