OSO - Oso
A US artificial satellite for observing the sun. OSO stands for orbiting solar observatory. Its purpose is to go outside the atmosphere and observe visible light, ultraviolet rays, X-rays, radio waves, the corona, zodiacal light, and other rays from the sun. The first satellite was launched on March 7, 1962.
