A town in Nakaniikawa County in eastern Toyama Prefecture. It occupies the Hayatsuki River and Kamiichi River basins, and most of the area is mountainous, extending from Mt. Tateyama. The northwestern part is the Toyama Plain, and the Toyama Chiho Railway connects the main settlements on the alluvial fan of the Kamiichi River. Medicine manufacturing and spinning are carried out here, and rice cultivation is also thriving. The Nissekiji Temple stone Buddha (historic site) is located in Oiwa. 236.71 km2 .
