A lens whose center is thinner than its edges. After passing through a concave lens, light parallel to the axis spreads out (divergence) as if it came from a single point (focal point) on the axis on the incident side. The image created by a concave lens is always an erect virtual image, located on the same side as the object, and if the distances from the lens to the object, image, and focal point are a, b, and f, respectively, the relationship in (Equation 1) holds. The ratio of the size of the image to the object (magnification) is equal to b/a. Depending on the shape of both sides of the lens, there are various types: biconcave, plano-concave, and convex-concave (meniscus-concave). → Convex lenses → Related topics Divergence (physics) | Lenses Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
