〘 noun 〙 A high-quality cotton used for kimonos and other items, produced around the Bunka and Bunsei eras (1804-30 ) in the vicinity of Ome in Musashi Province ( Ome City, Tokyo). 〘名〙 江戸時代、文化・文政(一八〇四‐三〇)の頃、武蔵国青梅(東京都青梅市)付近から産した、着物などに入れる上等の綿。三枚で本裁(ほんだち)の着物一枚分となるようにのばした綿。丈夫で粘りがあり、水をはじく。
