[Died] 388 BC. Aspenzus, Greek general and statesman of Athens. In 411 BC, he led the democratic faction that established a democratic government in the navy stationed at Samos in opposition to the Council of Four Hundred. He recalled Alcibiades and contributed greatly to the military success of the navy thereafter. In 404/3 BC, he led the democratic faction again and succeeded in expelling the Thirty Tyrants and restoring democracy.
