A coastal road stretching 33km in length from Shoya in Erimo Town to Hiroo Town in Hokkaido. It is also known as the Nissho Coast Road. It is part of National Route 336. The origin of the road is said to be the excavation of a mountain path in 1798. It was subsequently renovated over a long period of time and at great expense, and was completed in 1934. It is the only road connecting the Tokachi and Hidaka regions. JR buses run to Cape Erimo, Samani Town, and Shizunai, making it an important transportation route for goods in the region.
