[Died] July 26, 1057. Chokai-saku, Mutsu. Chief of the Oshu prisoners of war in the mid-Heian period. Son of Mutsu Daijo Tadayoshi. His first name was Yorimitsu, and he was commonly known as Yasudayu. The Abe clan is said to have originated when Abi, the elder brother of Nagasunehiko, who resisted Emperor Jimmu's eastern expedition, fled from Settsu Province to Mutsu and settled there, but the Abe clan is probably the descendant of an Emishi chieftain. The Abe surname was probably bestowed on him as a local nobleman. After his grandfather Tadayori, as the head of the prisoners of war, took control of the local administration of the Mutsu provincial government, Yoritoki became the governor of the six inner counties of Izawa, Esashi, Waga, Hienuki, Shiwa, and Iwate. With this power, he established a checkpoint at Kinugawa, did not pay taxes, did not obey imperial orders, and strengthened his tendency to be independent. In 1051, when Mutsu no Kami Fujiwara Noritomo and others who tried to attack him were defeated, Minamoto no Yoriyoshi was appointed Mutsu no Kami and sent to pursue Yoritoki. Yoritoki temporarily surrendered, and changed his name from Yoriyoshi to Yoriyoshi, fearing that it would have the same reading as Yoriyoshi's. However, in 1056, when Yoriyoshi tried to arrest Yoritoki's son Sadatomi, the relationship between the two deteriorated again, and fighting resumed. The following year, Yoritoki fought alongside Sadato at Kinugawa River, where he was killed in battle at Chokai-no-Ki after being hit by a stray arrow.

平安時代中期の奥州俘囚 (ふしゅう) の長。陸奥大掾忠良の子。初名は頼良，通称安大夫。安倍氏は神武天皇東征のとき，これに抵抗した長髄彦 (ながすねひこ) の兄安日 (あび) が摂津国から陸奥に逃れて土着したのに始ると伝えられるが，本来は蝦夷酋長の子孫であろう。安倍姓も現地の豪帥として賜姓されたものであろう。頼時は祖父忠頼が俘囚の長として，陸奥国衙行政の現地支配権を握ったあとをうけて，胆沢 (いざわ) ，江刺，和賀，稗貫 (ひえぬき) ，紫波，岩手の奥6郡の司となり，その勢力をもって，衣川に関を設け，租賦を納めず，朝命に服さず，自立の傾向を強めた。永承6 (1051) 年，これを討とうとした陸奥守藤原登任 (なりとう) らが敗れると，源頼義が陸奥守に起用され，頼時追討にあたった。頼時は一時帰順し，名も頼義との同訓をはばかって頼良から頼時に改めた。しかし天喜4 (56) 年，頼義が頼時の子貞任を逮捕しようとした事件を契機に，両者の関係は再び悪化し，戦いが再開された。翌5年，頼時は貞任とともに衣川に戦い，流れ矢に当って鳥海柵 (ちょうかいのき) で戦死。
