[Stone storehouse, cave storehouse]
In the northern part of the Kanto region and in Otaru, Hokkaido, there are stone storehouses whose walls are made of piled cut stones, but these were built after the Meiji period, and the oldest stone storehouse is the saltpeter storehouse (1661) that remains in Osaka Castle. Cave storehouses are dug in the dirt floors of farmhouses to store agricultural products, but there is no set format.
