…The capital of Fu Shi County during the Sui and Tang dynasties was located northeast of the current Yan'an City, and moved to its current location during the Song dynasty. During the Sui and Tang dynasties, it was the capital of Yan'an County and Yanzhou, during the Song dynasty, it was the administrative center of Yan'an Prefecture, during the Jin and Yuan dynasties, of Yan'an Road and Yan'an Road, and during the Ming and Qing dynasties, of Yan'an Prefecture. It was renamed Yan'an County in 1936, and became Yan'an City in 1937, becoming the central city of the Shaan-Gan-Ning Border District under the influence of the Chinese Communist Party. …
